I am currently working in private practice as a Counselling Therapist and Art Therapist and also offer consulting services within the education system, while I pursue a Doctorate in Education through the University of Calgary.

Specializing in a body-centered, creative process based approach

Curiosity is at the heart of Play and a playful and curious attitude towards life supports resilience and learning.

My training is very much rooted in a creative process based approach to Counselling Therapy, and I completed a dual Masters Degree in Art Therapy, with additional training in Expressive Art Therapies, Sandplay Therapy, Play Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing - all of which are rooted in engaging the whole person and all the senses, in an unfolding process, guided through curiosity and mindful awareness. A creative process-based approach is central to the meaning-making that comes about through engagement in a counselling process towards therapeutic change.

My philosophy:

is rooted in the belief that everyone possesses an inner potential, that when connected to, may help guide ones further development and learning along their life path. We all hold special gifts and are unique in our particular ways, and our gifts can be a source of strength and a resource to tap into during times of stress or difficulty.

There are different ways into connecting with our own guiding potential and gifts and using a creative process approach which allows us to tap into our creative well, through play and discovery, is one such way to do this!

Depending on your individual process, you may engage with the creative arts (visual art making such as drawing, painting, photography, or more expressive means like sculpting, writing, music, drama, dance, and sandplay, or more somatic (body centred) based processes.

Engaging in a creative process with the use of simple materials and materials, and bringing openness to discovering through this process of creating, is all you need.

Each session you will glean something new, and you will likely be surprised at what your individual process reveals to you! I will guide you in integrating, directing and applying this insight into tangible areas of your life. A goal of the therapeutic process is integration, regulation, and to make meaning, and to improve or restore a client’s functioning and his or her sense of personal well-being. The therapeutic process uses the expressive and self-reflective aspects of the creative process to address issues and challenges across the whole spectrum of human experiences.

.

Everyone can benefit from a creative process-based approach!

It is the best way to supporting children and youth, however, adults can benefit from this approach as well, one just needs to bring a curious attitude and be willing to step into experiencing something new, yet deeply familiar, as play, the imagination, and creative force is innate within all of us young and old.

How I can help:

The only constant in life is that change is inevitable. Just like the season's change, life has its seasons, and we all have our own personal struggles and difficulties that we experience in both individually and collectively.

Sometimes we get stuck in our journey's through life, or we come to a crossroads in how to proceed, which direction to take along our path next can be daunting, and we at times can feel confused and scared in navigating change.

Growth can be uncomfortable at times, overwhelming in others, and a blessing in disguise or well welcomed at other points in time!

I bring knowledge, warmth and humour to therapy as well as directness. Together we will work toward increasing your capacity to experience emotions, make decisions, change habits, and open up new ways of navigating life.

My role is to support you in discovering, uncovering, and recovering your own strengths, and support you in creating anew, where integration, adaptation, and learning are needed most.
